Before you begin measuring, note any obstructions such as door and / or window hardware that protrudes, heating pipes, or inward-turning doors and windows.
Choose a Mount Type: Inside Mount or Outside Mount

Step 1: Measure Width ①/②/③
Measure the width in 3 places. For width, use the shortest measurement to the nearest 1/8".
Order Width = The shortest of the three measurements
Do not take any deductions for clearance. The manufacturer will take a 3/16"(4.8mm) deduction off the overall width for a perfect fit.
Step 2: Measure Height ④/⑤/⑥
Measure the height in 3 places. For height, use the longest measurement to the nearest 1/8".
Roller Shades, Cellular Shades, Dual Shades:
Order Height = The longest of the three measurements
Zebra Shades, Roman Shades, Woven Wood Shades, Shangri-La Sheer Shades:
Order Height = The shortest of the three measurements
Step 3: Measure Depth ⑦
Different types of valances require different mounting depths. Click here to view the recommended mounting depths for each shade type.
Friendly reminder: If the actual mounting depth is less than the recommended value, the valance may extend beyond the window frame.

Step 1: Measure Width ①
Measure width to be covered. We recommend 1½" (3.8 cm) - 3" (7.6 cm) overlap on each side of the window (3"-6" (7.6-15.2 cm) total) for optimum light control and privacy.
Order Width = The area you wish to cover (Window width + 3"~6" (7.6-15.2 cm))
Step 2: Measure Height ②
Determine the location for the valance installation, and measure the height to be covered starting from the top of the valance installation point. (Please note: the height of your shade order includes the valance, fabric, and hem.)
We recommend adding at least 6 inches (15.2 cm) to the height of the window frame to allow space for the valance installation and to achieve optimal light control and privacy.
Order Height = The area you wish to cover (Window height + at least 6" (15.2 cm))
Outside mount shades will have no deductions taken at the factory. They will be made according to your exact measurements.
