Question
Do SmartWave motorized shades require a plug?
What are the power options for SmartWave shades?
Answer
The power options for SmartWave shades are primarily divided into two types: Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery and Hardwired DC 12V. If you choose the rechargeable Li-Ion battery, once the battery is fully charged, no plug is required. You can select the power option that best suits your needs.
1. Battery-Powered
For battery-powered SmartWave shades, there are three ways to charge the Li-Ion battery:
- Solar Panel Charging: By installing a solar panel, the battery can be charged using solar energy, offering an eco-friendly solution.
- USB Plug Charging: You can easily charge the battery using a USB plug connected to a power source.
- Power Bank Charging: In situations where an outlet is not convenient, you can also charge the battery with a power bank.
2. Hardwired Power
For hardwired SmartWave motorized shades, there are two power options:
- 12V DC Power Line: You can directly connect a 12V DC power line to the motor interface to provide a stable power supply for the shades. We use AWM 2468 18AWG x 2C wire, which comes with a JST-2P terminal for easy connection.
- Plug-in Transformer: If there is a 100V-240V outlet near the window, you can opt for a plug-in transformer, which converts the power to 12V DC and connects to the motor.
With these power options, SmartWave motorized shades can adapt to different installation environments, allowing you to choose the most convenient option based on your home layout.
